Job Description
This role is responsible for leading the strategic design and execution of a portfolio of high-impact transformation initiatives within the Retail Banking division. The Director will ensure projects are delivered efficiently, within budget and timelines, while embedding strong project management practices and enabling sustainable business outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Spearhead the planning and development of initiatives aligned with the bank's 5-year strategic roadmap.
• Define and prioritize the portfolio of transformation programs in accordance with key strategic goals.
Project Management & Delivery
• Oversee end-to-end execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring they meet defined scope, budget, deadlines, and quality benchmarks.
• Champion best-in-class project management methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks across all initiatives.
• Ensure successful handover and integration of solutions into day-to-day operations, adhering to regulatory and control requirements.
• Identify and resolve cross-functional dependencies and risks across the transformation portfolio.
• Manage allocation and optimization of resources, including budgets and project teams.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Maintain strong working relationships with senior leadership including CEO, Heads of Departments, and external advisors.
• Align project outcomes with stakeholder expectations and coordinate closely with vendors and partners to ensure high-quality execution.
Team & Capability Development
• Promote a culture of excellence in project execution by embedding Agile and Waterfall methodologies as appropriate.
• Mentor and develop team members to build transformation capabilities and drive performance.
• Attract and retain top talent, fostering a high-performance, customer-centric project environment.
Job Requirements
Experience
• At least 15 years in the banking or financial services industry.
• Minimum 10 years managing large-scale, complex transformation or digital initiatives.
• Strong track record in project and program management with expertise in budgeting, stakeholder engagement, procurement, and contracts.
Technical & Leadership Skills
• Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams and change programs in a banking environment.
• Proven success in agile transformation and digital delivery at scale.
• Ability to influence at the C-suite level and lead strategic conversations.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
• Professional certification in project/program management (e.g., PMP, PgMP) is required.
