Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the strategic investment, development, and operations of the port during its inception and growth phases. The CEO will establish a modern organization that achieves long-term goals and will serve as the primary liaison for all stakeholders throughout the port’s investment, development, and operational lifecycle. Once operational, the CEO will drive business growth, focusing on profitability and return on investment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Oversee the port's investment, development, and operational plans, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and business objectives.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary representative to clients, shareholders, government agencies, and the local community, building and maintaining strong partnerships.
• Business Development: Lead the formulation and execution of the port’s vision, strategy, business plans, and budgets, focusing on business growth and expansion.
• Operational Management: Manage daily operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to operational principles and key performance indicators.
• Human Resources Strategy: Develop and implement HR strategies covering recruitment, talent development, and succession planning to build a capable, high-performing team.
• Commercial Agreements: Negotiate and execute agreements with government agencies, suppliers, tenants, and customers, ensuring alignment with service level agreements.
• Best Practices & Compliance: Implement best practices across safety, security, environmental, and operational functions, while ensuring compliance with regional regulations and standards.
• Financial Oversight: Lead financial management processes, ensuring adherence to regional financial standards and driving cost control and profitability.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across operational, financial, commercial, and strategic areas.
• Cultural Leadership: Foster a positive organizational culture, promoting adherence to company policies and ethical standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service quality, and cost management.

Job Requirements

1. Experience:
• 20 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
• Extensive experience managing large-scale commercial operations, with proven success in international executive roles in marketing, operations, or general management.
• Direct experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in port development and commercial operations. In-depth knowledge of port operations, shipping, and logistics is a significant advantage.
• Experience working in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam, is strongly preferred.

2. Education/Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is required. A higher degree in business administration (e.g., MBA) is highly desirable.

3. Competencies:
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to set strategic priorities and make informed business decisions that drive organizational growth.
• Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships across maritime, logistics, shipping industries, local communities, and government sectors.
• Customer Focus: A customer-centric mindset, ensuring business strategies are aligned with client needs and market demands.
• Business Acumen: Deep understanding of corporate and project finance, coupled with extensive management experience across business functions.
• Marketing & Sales: Solid knowledge of marketing and sales within the port and logistics industries, with a focus on driving growth.
• Operational Excellence: Proven ability to apply best practices across operations, fostering productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Communication: Proficiency in English, with excellent skills in reading, writing, presenting, and public speaking. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
• Analytical Skills: Strong judgment and analytical capabilities to assess the impact of decisions across the organization.
• Ethics & Confidentiality: High standards of ethics, with the ability to manage sensitive company information discreetly and confidentially.
