CURRENT CHALLENGES OF CANDIDATES IN THE ENERGY INDUSTRY
According to the respondents' results, Navigos Search found some difficulties and challenges as follows.
In terms of difficulties:

  • 92% hardly ensure health during the complicated of the epidemic
  •  45% agree that their salary and bonus plummeted compared to the beforemath Covid-19
  • 39% have difficulty when working away from home
  • 27% worry about keeping their current job
  • 25% find it difficult to compete with foreign candidates.

In terms of challenges: 

  • 55% have slow and low promotion opportunities
  •  51% have to travel too much or working far from home
  • 48% have few social welfare policies
  • 46% have toxic and dangerous working environment
  • 45% have to maintain the salary, bonus and social benefits stable
  • 28%  face direct challenges when the business will prioritize recruiting foreign experts for the position they are taking
  • 22% are not proficient in a foreign language such as English or the foreign language that their business is using.

FACTORS ATTRACTING TALENT FROM THE CANDIDATES’ PERSPECTIVE
According to Navigos Search report, salary, social benefits, and a safe working environment are the factors that both the employers and the candidates are focusing on to meet the candidates’ expectations.

Besides, Salary, bonus, and social welfare factors are still the biggest reasons why candidates leave their current organization. Within the next 3-9 months, 61% of survey respondents have a desire to change jobs.

EXPECTATIONS OF CANDIDATES IN THE ENERGY INDUSTRY WHEN SWITCHING JOBS AND BEING IN THE “NEW NORMAL”
When moving to a new organization, 83% of candidates expect to get a salary  raise; 50% expect to “actively build their team from the beginning” and “work in  an English-speaking working environment”. “Working in a less hazardous environment” also accounted for 31% of the candidates’ opinions.

In the “New Normal” context, 84% want “more skills training programs”. 71% expect to have “leadership training courses”. Also, 63% focus on the “training courses on physical and mental health”.

However, up to 64% of candidates are not optimistic about the new job opportunities in the last months of 2021.

When implementing a recruitment campaign, employers should:

  • Improve the “Working environment” to ensure the highest safety for employees
    Improve company salary, bonus, social welfare policies
  • Promote training activities (soft skills, professional skills,physical-mental health improvement skill)
  • Setup and plan different scenarios to actively deal with unpredictable happenings of Covid-19 pandemic

    To employers:
  • Improve foreign language skills to meet job requirements
  • Equip continuous self-study skills to be able to adapt to new changes in work
  • Seek support from their organization in case of need for help related to mental health factors
